Referral Program FAQ

The Commons Collins Street will open in two stages, starting with levels 3, 4, 5 and 6 in December 2024 followed by entry and mezzanine levels in March 2025.

Why are we opening in two stages?

The main reception, cafe and cocktail bar area has huge, beautiful windows overlooking Collins Street. In November 2024, the landlord finished some facade works to the exterior of the building to improve these windows. Our fit out contractors were then able to begin The Commons internal fit out of this area, ready for opening in March 2025.

How do we gain access to the building during stage 1?

Entry to the building will be via elevator only. Enter the 55 Collins lobby, past the concierge and use the furthest lift on the left to access level 3, which will be open during business hours. Your access pass will allow you to take this lift to levels 3-6 at any time.

Will we have access passes on our phone?

No.

Where will reception be located during stage 1?

We will have a temporary reception set up just outside the elevators on level 3.

Where should guests or visitors go during stage 1?

Guests and visitors can access level 3 via lift during business hours (8:30am - 5:30pm, Monday - Friday).

Entering from Collins Street, head past the hoarding on the building's exterior and access the lobby on the right. Walk through the lobby and past the concierge desk, to the furthest bank of lifts on the left to access level 3. If guests or visitors have any trouble, the building concierge located in the lobby will be able to direct them to The Commons, or they can contact our team on 0402 772 179.

When are the End of Trip Facilities going to be available?

The End of Trip Facilities are currently under renovation, with works scheduled to be complete in mid-2025.

Can I take my bike to my office?

Bicycles are not allowed through the building lobby. While the facilities are unavailable, we are happy to set up members up with access to the facilities at The Commons QV upon request.

What events will be hosted during stage 1?

While we don't have dedicated event space available on levels 3-6, we'll still provide weekly breakfasts in the kitchens on each level and regular pop up trolleys. We would love to see our Collins Street members at events at The Commons other locations during this time. When the entry and mezzanine levels are complete, we look forward to hosting some of our biggest and best events yet in our dedicated cocktail bar and event space.

What meeting rooms are available during stage 1?

There is one meeting room on each level 4, 5 and 6 which can be booked through the member app and portal. In addition to this we will re-purpose two offices as meeting rooms which can be booked at no charge to you, by contacting the Community Team.

How can the loading dock be used and accessed?

The Collins Place loading dock is located off Flinders Lane. All trolley deliveries and pick-ups to and from site are via the loading dock, only small hand-held items may be delivered via the ground floor entrance.

Contractors must provide Operations Management with a minimum of 48 hours’ notice prior to any major deliveries or pick-ups which take longer than 20 minutes to complete. The loading dock is manned 5.30am-5:30pm, Monday to Friday and 7am-11am, Saturday.

Parking for More Than 30 Minutes

  • If you need to park your vehicle in the loading dock for more than 30 minutes, please complete and submit this loading dock access form and email it to collinsplace.loadingdock@mirvac.com
  • A minimum of 1 business day’s notice is required, however the more notice you can give, the better, as spaces are limited.

Parking for Less Than 30 Minutes

If your stay will be less than 30 minutes (e.g., for deliveries), there is no need to complete an access request form. However, you may need to wait, depending on how busy the dock is.

 

Loading Dock Entrance & Directions

The Loading Dock entrance is 72 Flinders Lane via Spring Street on your right-hand side.

Note: Flinders Lane is a one-way street. If you miss the entrance, proceed down Flinders Lane, turn left onto Exhibition Street, left onto Flinders Street, left onto Spring Street, and left back onto Flinders Lane.

Entry & Exit Height: 3.3 meters.

Check-In Procedure

Once you have entered the dock, please follow the yellow designated walkways to the Dock Master at the Security / Loading Dock Office for check-in.

Who Can Refer?

Any current Open Desk, Dedicated Desk, or Office member may submit a referral.

Who Can I Refer?

You can refer anyone who owns or works for a business and might be interested in a membership at The Commons, as long as you do not own, part-own, or work for the business you refer.

What If I Refer Someone Who Has Already Applied?

If your referral has applied for a membership through our website, email, phone call, or in-person, you are not eligible for referral fees.

How to Refer?

Head to The Commons Referral Form and fill out the Referral Submission form.

Can I Refer More Than One Team?

Yes, there is no limit to how many people you can refer.

What Happens After I Refer?

Once we receive your referral, it will be logged into our database. Your referral will go through our usual approval process to ensure no conflict of interest with our current members. After approval, we will schedule a tour of the space and discuss membership options with your referral.

How Do I Know If My Referral Has Joined?

We will keep you informed throughout the process and send you an email when your referral signs their membership agreement.

Payment of Referral Fee?

  • If your referral chooses an Open Desk membership, you will receive a one-off $100 Prezzee Gift Voucher.
  • If your referral chooses Dedicated Desk(s) or Private Office(s), you will be paid 10% of their membership fee every month. You need to have an ABN for this, or we will withhold a portion for tax purposes.

Referral Fee Amount?

  • For Open Desk referrals, you receive a one-time $100 Prezzee Gift Voucher.
  • For Dedicated Desk(s) or Private Office(s) referrals, you earn 10% of their membership fee, which will stop after 12 months, when you've received a maximum of $5,000, or when the referral terminates or downgrades.

Payment Schedule?

Your payments will begin in the month following your referral's sign-up, and they are made in the middle of each month.

Maximum Referral Earnings?

Your referral fee is capped at a maximum of $5,000 or 12 months of payments (whichever comes first) per referral. There is no limit to how many people you can refer.

Benefit to Referred Individuals?

We waive the joining fee for everyone you refer.

Changes in Referral Membership?

If your referral terminates or changes their membership, your payments will stop. If they upgrade, your payments and referral terms remain unchanged.

Referral Scenarios: Here are some examples of possible referral scenarios:

  • [Example 1]Member Rebecca makes the following referrals:
  • Refers Jane, who takes a Private Office at $2,000/month. Rebecca receives $200/month for 12 months.
  • Refers Robert, who chooses a Private Office at $6,000/month. Rebecca receives $600/month, up to a maximum of $5,000.
  • Total: Rebecca receives $7,400 in referral fees.
  • [Example 2]Member Julian makes the following referrals:
  • Refers Anika, who takes an office at $10,000/month. Julian receives $1,000/month, up to $5,000.
  • Refers Shannon, who takes 4 Dedicated Desks at $2,800. Julian receives $280/month for 12 months.
  • Refers Adrian and Jess, both taking Open Desks, for which Julian receives two $100 Prezzee gift vouchers.
  • Total: Julian receives $8,360 in referral fees and $200 in Prezzee gift vouchers.
  • [Example 3]Member Linda makes the following referrals:
  • Refers Dean for a Private Office at $1,700/month. Linda receives $170/month. After 6 months, Dean downgrades to a Dedicated Desk, and Linda's payments stop.
